Dear fellow MS PhotoEd users,
I recently bought a new Pc with Windows 98. When I
used to use MS PhotoEd on my old Win95 PC, I didn't
have this problem:
Whenever I want to open a *.gif graphics file now,
i.e. by double-clicking on them, the CORRECT
application (Microsoft PhotoEd) is lauched. BUT!
when PhotoEd opens, it responds with the error
messages "Unknown File Format". Before I upgraded
to Windows 98 I didn't have any of these file
extensions/file format information/registry
problems with any Office 97 components such as
PhotoEd. Can you give me any detailed
instructions on how to fix this bug?
Please note, that I already tried the "View,
Folder Options, File Types, File Associations"
method but that didn't solve this problem of mine!
Also: I tried reinstalling photoed and that didn't
help. I also tried many different kinds of *gif files
and I tried opening them on my old PC, where they
just opened fine. I even reinstalled Windows 98.
None of the above worked. Now I'm at a loss!
Thanks for picking your brain for ideas on whaty else
I might try!
Peter
P.S.: Microsoft PhotoEd on my PC is located at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Common
Files\PhotoEd.exe
