: I've been using image composer a couple of months and enjoy it - it's great
: for producing the "warm and fuzzy" transparent graphics that are trendy
: today. The problem is when I attempt to make text in light colors it always
: renders fuzzily, without the crispness that I sometime need. I've tried
: text with a light edge, a dark edge, shadow, without shadow, etc., with the
: same fuzzy results. The problem is even worse on white and yellow text.
Ahem.... Well.... This is a high-end (OK, middle-end too :) ) feature called anti-aliasing with the intent to remove the Horrible Jaggies from computer type as well as other image components, but I can understand your desire for a crisper type when the size is very small. If you take a trip back in history and open old Paintbrush (or the newer Win95 Paint) and add small type (12 points or below), you will notice the difference.
Unforunately there is not much more to do in Image Composer but to apply sharpening to the text since you can't turn of the anti-aliasing as it's possible in many other programs. This *can* work, but may not always give the result you are looking for. Another possible solution is to create the type in MS Paint (or other program like Paint Shop Pro), save it there and insert it into your IC composition. Don't know if it's because I have the MS Font Smoother installed, but I don't get aliased text above 12 points in Paint either. IC is also smart enough (???) to anti-alias text when you copy and paste from Paint and the aliased option (Shift+Paste) gives extremely ugly results.
Why do you folks always have to ask questions with no solution??? :-)
