Text tool font size problem

I just starting using Image Composer and was going through the tutorial. When it came time to add text to the La Fluer logo, all I get is a box with no text. I found the problem to be the font size. The tutorial says to specify a font size of 36, however, this produces a box with no text. I tried several different font sizes until I found one that actually produces text, font size 22. It seems this is the biggest size I can use. Am I missing something here or is this a bug? Shouldn't I be able to use all the font sizes in the drop down?

I was able to circumvent the problem by resizing and color enhancing the sprite but I'd like to get all the font sizes to work. Any suggestions?
