There are probably more qualified people out there to answer this but DTP (DeskTop Publishing) is basically the use of modern computer technology to put together graphic vehicles (catalogs, newspapers, packaging...anything with type and pictures). "Desktop" because computers have become smaller and more potent, able to do everything from set type, to photo retouching, to output on paper or electronically.
Just look around at this website and see the various uses and technologies being affected by Desktop Publishing. There's your answer. Don't be lazy!
