Cindy,
Re: >
I don't suggest that you're disputing that the Mac is good for DTP. I'm just proud to be a Macintosh user, and personally feel that it is the better platform from which to do it. I'm not exuding any "attitude" here. My pride may be something you don't understand because maybe you haven't owned a Mac before. There is something about an Apple Macintosh that makes some Mac users feel passionate about them. This small, cute, user friendly "Happy Mac" OS that fights the Microsoft Giant, and in our eyes, wins! This pride may come across as "attitude" to you. We all have our preferences as to computers, cars, food... anything. Some of us just love our Macs!

Re: >
The beauty of the Mac is that NOBODY taught me to use it. I didn't take any classes on how to manage my Mac. I didn't take any classes to learn DTP. I don't feel the need for any wake-up call. Go ahead and use your PC. I'll use my Mac, and we're both happy campers. I don't have any fear that the local print shops or service bureaus will be able to use my Mac files. How about you? Maybe the problem you are having is with the print shops and service bureaus not taking the Windows DTP world as seriously as you like. Don't beat the rest of us up about it.

Re: >
The numbers are very clear. I'm not suggesting here that Windows use for DTP is not substantial. It is. Adobe must be very pleased with these numbers.
MY POINT is that the vast majority of Personal Computer users are Windows users, and that they DO NOT make up the vast majority in dollars spent at Adobe.
If the approximate PC to Mac population ratio is 85% Windows to 8% Mac OS, and using the 50% Windows/50% Mac Adobe earnings numbers that you've provided, I deduce that the Mac OS is the much more popular platform to do DTP with. Almost ten times more popular in fact. If I were Adobe, I wouldn't turn away from the Mac OS in development or advertising.

Exactly.

Re: >
You misunderstood my argument. I'm in agreement with your suggestion that the trend is a growing number of Windows DTPers. I'm not feeling the least bit threatened by the thriving Windows use for DTP. Good for Adobe. Good for Windows users. Good for Microsoft. Everybody's happy except for some Windows DTPers, feeling that they're not yet being taken seriously. I assure you that you're being taken seriously by Adobe. The market will adjust as demand for the respective platforms dictates.
---------
I believe that Mac OS will continue to be a major player in the world of DTP for years to come.
