Scripting Adobe Photoshop

I would like to automate a couple task in Adobe Photoshop ver. 4.0. I am away that I can use the scripting tools within Photoshop.
My problem is that these tools are insufficient. I need a combination of Applescript/Frontier and the macroprogramming of Photoshop.
If you a solution to my problem please let me know.
