: I do regular typesetting for a local print shop. I made a typing error
: on a job that the printshop brokered out to another company.
: Unfortunately, I don't have any proof that the mistake was definitely my
: fault (of course, the print shop says it was). Now the print shop wants
: to charge me for the entire reprint of that job ($120!). I really don't
: think this is fair, even if the mistake WAS my fault. I can understand
: him not wanting to pay me for the typesetting part, not the entire job!!
: What do you think? How would you handle this situation?
: Your speedy response would be greatly appreciated, so I can resolve this
: nasty situation!
It depends. How much work do you do for this print
shop? If you want to keep a good working relation-
ship, I would go ahead and absorb the $120. If you
really don't feel right about that, you might offer
to compromise and split it with them, knocking it
down to $60. Otherwise, burn your bridge and learn
a lesson - always have proofs signed off on before
anything goes to print. CYA.
