: I am a communications student. In our class we are learning some desktop publishing skills, etc. My question is this:
: QuarkXPress or Pagemaker is more important to know? In class we have become XPress/Photoshop experts, but I have no idea when it comed to PageMaker or Corel Draw. Should I learn these programs? Or will I be alright in the work world with only XPress knowledge?
Corel Draw is a vectorbased illustration program, just as Illustrator or FreeHand. Photoshop (as you might know) works with pixels. To have an allround knowledge of both illustration process techniques is great and will definately optimize your chances for a good job. I would go for a quick course in Illustrator (or Corel Draw) if I were you!
PageMakers latest upgrade 6.5 has an interface very simular to Quark.
Good luck!
