HR Tags, alternative to make it vertical?

Hi,

I'm new to this all and just found this place.
I'm creating a newsletter with nested tables
and instead of keeping the table borders on I'm
using the (hr) tag as a separator between images
and text. Unofortunately I'm only able to use
a horizontal separation. Is there a way I can
create a vertical separation? cc a copy to me
if possible, I'll check back soon.
