Hi, I'm not going to be much help here--I'm just wondering if I could get some help with this issue as well.
I'm using an HP Deskjet 820Cxi (non-postscript), and I think I made the mistake of not getting a "proper" Postscript laser
printer. I need to produce black & white output to be printed on newsprint for a small magazine I publish,
and I'm having a heck of a time creating good halftones. I use Corel Photo-Paint to edit my scanned photos, and the
"halftone" option looks atrocious, even at high lpi's, and I can't get anything but 8-bit grayscale (and probably unpublishable)
"halftones" with my HP driver. Generally, I'm more familiar with doing halftones on big
cameras with a screen (and to be honest, I'm more used to wax and knives than computers!). Do I need
to buy a new laser Postscript printer? By the way, I use a PC.
Thanks in advance. I'd be interested in a constant dialogue with people, on the issue of
using PC's for DTP and design.
