: : : help help help! for almost two months ive been trying to print. i have a pc/win95 and quark 3.32. im outputting to a cyclone at kinkos (cannon 500/550 or kodak) my files contains cmyk tiff and ps type 1 fonts. im creating printer files using drivers from kinkos (cyclone server clc) and i just got cyclone drivers from the web cyclone server cannon 2015.107 and cyclone server kanji 2015. my artwork comes out inversed, black and neon green-like, fonts ok. oddly my .prn file is smaller than the tiff image. i get no detialed help from cyclone, kinkos or quark and im very very frustrated at this point. please help or guide me in the right direction. im not doing anything fancy in the dialog boxes. im at michaelm@advtravel.com
: : Convert your cmyk tiff files to RGB in photoshop, that will do the trick!
: : Really, really want to know if Brad's advice worked. We generally have mass problems with prn files so we tell everyone to ps. If this fix (which I would then demand an explaination why because it's so weird) works, it would greatly decrease my Advil intake. Thank you.
: :Actually, prn files are the IBM equivalent of the mac .PS file. Since the prn file was smaller than the tiff, it is a possibility that you are not creating the file using the correct method. PRN files are typically larger than the original, since it contains instructions on how to print the file. Check with you local kinkos and make sure you are using the correct drivers (ie. not downloaded off the web). Check your manual to make sure you are doing the correct steps to make the file. If that doesn't work, try creating an Adobe PDF file using Adobe's Acrobat program. I apologize for your trouble.
