font problem HELP!

we are an industrial company regularly producing our own catalogues (mac 7600, OS8,
illus, quark - the usual stuff) for over 5 trouble-free years. the current book is our first since installing illustrator 7 & os8
everything else the same as usual. i can't
print an illustrator file containing just a single word if it is created in and saved as v7. older drawings created in 6, 5.5 etc are
fine. the problem only occurs with certain fonts (bitstream library). re installing apps & fonts doesn't seem to do the trick
any ideas?
