: Try Freehand as the previous person suggests. I have
: worked with both and prefer Illustrator. I work on
: a Mac and enjoy Illustrator 6. I can't imagine living
: without plug-ins. They make my work much easier and
: allow me to do things that would not be possible
: otherwise. I recommend switching to a Macintosh and
: getting the best of both worlds, Illustrator and
: plug-ins.

Of course FreeHand supports plug ins too
(called Xtras in FreeHand land). Some Xtras
that have been recently released (or are coming
very soon) on the Windows platform are MetaTools'
Vector Effects Macromedia Edition, Trailer Parc's
insta.HTML (for turning FreeHand pages into
web pages [with HTML, GIFs, JPEGs, etc.]),
Avenza's MAPublisher (for mapping) and
BeInfinite's Infinite FX.

FreeHand 7, which just started shipping a new
version in October for Windows and Mac at the same
time, is really the best dual platform solution around.

FreeHand is the only application of its kind that
ships new versions with the same functionality
on both Mac and Windows at the same time.

(Yes, I too work for Macromedia and am a little
biased, but many reviewers agree too!)
