Illustrator 6, printing to PDF

Hello.

I am having trouble printing to PDF--Distiller gives an error that says the offending command is "findfont" and it will not convert the .ps file. I checked "embed fonts" in the dialog and still no luck. There are no fonts in this document. . .what might be happening here? (PowerMac, OS 8.5, Distiller 3.0.2, Laser Writer 8 driver)
