Illustrator likes postscript fonts, as do almost all Adobe products. Get adobe type manager... plus, considering the print advantages, you may desire to use postscript fonts instead of true-type fonts anyway... They offer cross-platform-ability, which is almost always necessary if you're going to do work with a proffessional press...
