Yes Com1 and Com3 share a common memory address as do com2 and com4. Whether or not you can change this would probably depend on your motherboard and the BIOS that is on it. You would have to talk to someone that knows more about that than I though.
The only thing that I can suggest is that you try to set up a com4 channel for your pad and see if that works. You would not be able to use your pad and the modem at the same time though.
