I agree that the manual is not too good for beginners so I have bought some real books of which I recommend:
Fractal Painter 4 Complete by Karen Sperling
Fractal Design Painter Creative Technique by Jeremy Sutton.
The first one is a work through type book which explains the processes reasonably well whereas the second book is a dive in and try this, type of book with all of the techniques explained in detail so that I can actaully achieve similar results to the book,
I have fallen in love with Painter and only wish I had some artistic talent to go with it. I am a software programmer by trade and just play with graphics as a hobby but am trying to make the two things come together by providing more interesting screens for my users and Painter offers so so many ways to paint an interesting screen.
I hop that there is more interest on the Net in this product becase here in Australia I had to search to get a copy of the product and even that required a call to the importer who gave me the number of a specialist graphic house which carried Painter and the Wacom graphics tablet I wanted to use with it. Anyway, keep on Painting,
Barry
