Color changes with eps files

I 've been creating maps with ARC/INFo software, and converting the metafiles to postscript to bring into illustrator. However, when illustrator opens the postscript files, the colors are wrong. Then, when i try to open the colorsettings option, the whole program shuts down. Any idea what is going on?
