: : I'm creating a simulation of Earth from outer space. It involves painting land surfaces with colors matching those from satellite photographs. But I need to add texture where there's mountains. What filter will do that for me?
: Probably the best Photoshop filter for creating a three dimensional effect would be the Render > Lighting Effects filter. If you create a channel that represents the height of the mountains, you can use it as a texture map in the lighting effects filter. You can see something I've done like this at my site. The URL is http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Cavern/7864 The background for the banner on my title page uses this effect. Also, some of the images in my art gallery do too.

I was admiring your art gallery and noticed that you really should have a "back" button after the visitor clicks to look at the larger-scale image. Infrastructure is a very important element of web design. Like some of your artwork, especially the escher-influenced robot reflection. It would be advantageous to add maybe some more professional or "mature" artwork pieces that focus more on how you could benefit a company or corporate website...3D rendering is neat, but not really a large emphasis for the business world. Just a suggestion...
