In Reply to: ColorSync/ monitor - printed images matching - is it worth it ? posted by jann lipka on November 01, 1997 at 02:52:55:
: I work a lot against offset printing / advertising / magazines and have
: a lot of troubles wth my screen / output matching .
: I have just started to look at Color Sync , but it seems that
: using Color Syns4c is even more difficult than trying to match
: the final result in print by old fashioned trial / error method -
: looking at chromalines ( chemical proof ) and iris proofs .
: Is it worth the effort to try to implement color sync all the way
: ( monitor , proofer , final output ) ?
: Can someone recommend some software for making colors sync profiles ?
: Hopefully reasonably cheap ...
: I would like to create colorsync profile for my scanner and use
: my epson photo stylus as a some kind of proofer .
:
: I understand these are complexed issues but I4m not ready to spend months
: or thousends dollars on solving that ,
: my job is making images ..
: BTW , I know the difference between cmyk and rgb ,coated and uncoated paper etc.
: Sorry this one went quite longish ..
I have been in the prepress industry for 25 years specializing
in prepress color seperations, and printing. I have spent most
of those years formulating and reformulating color standards
in the prepress houses that I have worked for. So with the
advent of Macintosh prp stations and the Postscript workflow
I have had alot of experience in "Color Management" theory!
If you would like to email me and give me some more information
your enviornment and platform I might be able to
help you!
