: I am the lucky guinea-pig-first-and-only machine-in-the-agency with Quark 4. Since we don't have a news server where I can check out the good old prepress newsgroup, I'd like to get a discussion going here.
: I am especially interested in solving problems, finding bug updates/runarounds, and input from print shops regarding how new features output.
: My current biggest gripe: the default Non-White areas clipping path that Quark creates when opening a 3.x document. Is there a preferences option to turn this off or a patcher to fix this? It's really messing with my life!
: Other topics of interest:
: How are the new features, especially Bezier features, RIP-ing to imagesetters?
: In 3.x, if you had hand-drawn crops or job notes that you wanted to print outside page bounds, all you had to do was make sure these items lay into the live page area somehow. Now files with these items that printed out fine in 3.x print out missing these manual crops in 4.0. How can I get these items to output?
OK, Babe...
Watch Out! 4.0 has a few problems to work out. The main
one for me is that it's postscript output can not
yet be understood by the imposition software that
both the printers we deal with use -- Preps by ScenicSoft.
I have to save a whole book back to 3.3 in order to
print it!
A lot of users are ticked off about the new way Quark
deals with registration offset.
You can use the Quark technical forums without a news
server as they are web based.
Best,
Ben Baby
