Try this:
Go to the Master Page of the document into which you want to import your text.
Then click into the text box where the text will be placed.
Chose the typeface, size and leading.
Then go back to the document and click in the text box.
Import your text and it should come in with the properties you set in the Master Page.
Alternatively you can import text first, and then
Select All and set typeface, size and leading.
Hope it works out.
