We've had that problem many times with the crashing, but still running, Mac. Rebooting fixes that one. However we have another variation that sometimes occurs. My first thought was that the hard drive was backed up onto a network volume along with its copy ofd Quark. That's one way to have this happen because for some reason Quark seems to grab the first application it can on the network and not necessarily the one on your own hard drive. Particularly if you open documents by double-clicking their icon and don't already have your own Quark running. Once in awhile this still happens that someone does have another person's Quark running on their machine over the network. It may have something to do with File sharing and Program linking being on. It is rare, but I've seen it happen twice this past six months on our network. Just as Quark checks your pictures for modification, maybe something triggers it to look for the version of Quark that created it. It's very strange when it happens, and you can't duplicate it when you want to show it to someone!
