A Beginner's Look At Animated GIF Software - continued

Because of its simplicity, it gives the impression of being able to perform only a small number of tasks. I believe there is actually more to this program than meets the eye; however, I did not examine all its features, so you have something left to discover for yourself, if you so choose.

While creating a list, you can see each image in the corner as you go along. You can view your animation at any time, which shows you the progress so far.

Sequences can be created quickly in three easy steps, just like making dinner. 1. insert a LOOP if you want continuous animation. 2. insert a CONTROL, double click it to edit it, then copy it more times than you need to using CTRL-X and CTRL-V until you have a long list of CONTROLs. 3. go back up to the first CONTROL and insert an IMAGE, hit down arrow and insert the next image, etc. until you are done. Delete any extra CONTROLs at the end of the list and you're finished. Or, you can drag and drop from Windows Explorer, in which case the CONTROLs are inserted for you. Hit the view button. There. You've done it. Doesn't that feel good?

SUMMARY

Creating animated graphics doesn't have to be a painful or time consuming task, especially with the use of software like Paint Shop Pro  and GIF Construction Set. Nor does it have to be expensive, as you can see below. As long as you have access to the Internet, there's no excuse not to put at least one animated gif on your page. Remember to register before publishing that homemade animation, though, or the "leather-winged demon of the night" will get you. Or so I've been told.

About Kira Kern:

Brief bio: I am a hopeless insomniac who just recently started surfing the net, but I have a lot of computer experience otherwise. I've always loved graphics and the programs that create them. I hope to be an accomplished graphic artist in the future.
